College football is dominated by the playoff race. The postseason is full of drama.

To fill all the spaces in the 41 bowl games this season, 82 teams in the Football Bowl Subdivision must finish with six or more wins. If they do not have six wins, five teams will be allowed to join the fray.

This is the situation right now for the 130 eligible teams that are eligible to participate in the playoffs with only two weeks remaining in the regular season.

► 64 teams have at least six wins.

► 32 teams already are eliminated with at least seven losses.

► The 17 available spots must be filled by the remaining 34 teams.

A number of top programs across the nation are without an official ticket for a bowl match and require one to two wins in their final matches. There will be several matchups that help to secure places and some that will result in teams being eliminated.

Virginia Tech (5-5), at Miami (Fla.), (5-5), 7:30 pm. ET (ACC Network)

Not surprising, two of the top teams within the ACC now face uncertain playoff futures. However, Hurricanes and Hokies both suffered close losses which stalled their seasons. Good news! The good news?

Thinking Big!Michigan State is ready for Ohio State’s showdown

Texas at West Virginia (4-6), noon ET, (ESPN2)

It would not be fair to say that Steve Sarkisian’s debut season as a Longhorns player was a failure. On a five-game losing streak, Texas needs to beat the Mountaineers, who also harbor bowl aspirations, and Kansas State next week to avoid missing a bowl for the first time since 2015.

Florida (5-5) at Missouri (5-7), 4:05 p.m. ET (SEC Network)

As crazy as this may sound, it looks like Dan Mullen’s must-win. But the Gators can still salvage seven wins and some respectability. They are now in good position to win either this home match or their Arkansas trip with the Tigers, thanks to their victory last week.

UCLA (6-4) at Southern California (4-5), 4:00 p.m. ET (Fox)

Los Angeles rivalry is turning around. To finish with six victories the Trojans will need to win their three previous games. Meanwhile, Chip Kelly’s Bruins have reached the postseason for only the second time under Chip Kelly. UCLA is determined to stop the implosion of USC.

Auburn (4-6) at South Carolina (5-5), 7 pm. ET (ESPN)

Last week’s Missouri game was a missed opportunity for the Gamecocks to score six wins. This is their best opportunity to beat rival Clemson. The Tigers are without starting quarterback Bo Nix because of injury.

Florida State (4-6), at Boston College (6-4), noon ET, (ACC Network).

A record four wins in six games puts the Seminoles, who are improving each game, in a position to make it into the postseason. While it’s not easy, this is better than the alternative of losing hope.

South Alabama (5-5) at Tennessee (5-5), 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPNU)

The Volunteers’ one win away from a bowl match is testament to Josh Heupel’s infusion of life and energy into their offseason. The Jaguars should be an easy win even though they’ve got motivation of their own with Coastal Carolina coming to town on the final weekend.

Washington (4-6) at Colorado (3-7), 3 p.m. ET (Pac-12 Network)

In what has been mostly a lost campaign for the Huskies, they have a realistic chance of furthering their season with wins against the Buffaloes and rival Washington State. They need to overcome the loss of many games, which has been a common theme in their campaign.

Illinois (6 – 4) at Iowa (8-2), 2:15 p.m. ET (FS1)

While it may seem impossible that the Illini would be able to upset the Hawkeyes this time, the Illini have already defeated Penn State and Minnesota at home. This shapes up to be a close game and with Northwestern on deck, the opportunity is there for Illinois.

Old Dominion (4-6) at Middle Tennessee (5-5), 3.30 p.m. ET (ESPN+)

Conference USA is home to five teams that are trying to make it into the playoffs. They are the only two teams that match up together in this game. Blue Raiders are able to play at home. After looking improbable, the Monarchs are now on the right track with three straight wins.
