Over 80 people allegedly stormed and robbed a Nordstrom in California on Saturday night, according to multiple reports of the incident.

The robbery took place within minutes. Thieves armed only with crowbars and dressed in ski masks rushed from Nordstrom to the dozens upon dozens of cars along the block. NBC reports.

The alleged attack took place around 9 p.m. right around Nordstrom’s closing time, and the police station began receiving calls around that time, Walnut Creek police Lt. Ryan Hibbs told KPIX 5. One employee was pepper sprayed and two were punched and kicked, NBC reported.

Hibbs stated to KPIX that it is yet to determine the value of the merchandise taken, but three persons have already been arrested for both robbery charges and weapons charges.

Manager at the P.F. said that there was “a mob” of people. Chang’s told CBS SF. “The police were flying into. It felt like watching a movie. It was amazing.”

Twitter captured witnesses capturing the raid as the robbers fled the scene with stolen goods and ran to their cars.

Walnut Creek has seen an increase in shoplifting incidents by 10% between 2021 and 262, compared to the previous year, according to Walnut Creek Police Department data.

A massive looting of luxurious merchandise was carried out in San Francisco’s Union Square on Friday night just 24 hours after the Nordstrom robbery.

Luxury stores like Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Bloomingdales, Hermes and Fendi were hit, as well as Walgreens and certain cannabis dispensaries, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

A Twitter video captures the scene, which shows the Louis Vutton store filled with empty shelves and broken glass. Thousands of dollars of merchandise were stolen, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

“We will flood this area with police officers for the foreseeable future,”  William Scott, chief of police in San Francisco told the newspaper. “We will do what we need to do to put an end to this madness.”
